Chocolate Book Tag

It’s almost Valentine’s Day! Today, I’m going to be doing the chocolate book tag because that is one of my favorite parts of Valentine’s Day. This was created by A Daydreamer’s Ramblings. You can click on the covers of these books to see my reviews as well (if I’ve done them)! Let’s go ahead and get started:

Dark Chocolate — A book that covers a dark topic (abuse, domestic violence, rape, lonlieness, bullying, death, etc)

The Truth About Alice

This book talks about so many dark topics, but focusing on rumors and bullying. It’s a really touching and short book, packed with lots of emotion.
White Chocolate — Your favourite light-hearted/humourous read

Where'd You Go, Bernadette

Here is a book that is kind of un-traditionally funny. Bernadette disappears and it’s all about her daughter and husband’s search to figure out where she went. Berndaette is kind of crazy and the things that she does are pretty funny and outlandish!
Milk Chocolate — A book that has a lot of hype that you’re dying to read.

Me Before You (Me Before You, #1)

With the movie trailer just dropping, I have seen so many people either buying this book or reading it right away. And so far, they have all said good things!
Chocolate with a caramel center — Name a book that made you feel all gooey in the middle while you were reading it.

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)

Of course, any Stephanie Perkins book will do this! I just think that the romance paired with the setting in Paris makes this book TOO CUTE.
Wafer-free Kit-Kat — Name a book that surprised you lately.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1)

Talk about surprising! This is filled with twists and turns and I had to go out to the bookstore the very next day to get my hands on the next one. I would clear a weekend for this series!
Snickers — A book that you are going nuts about.

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)

I would necessarily say I’m going *nuts* about it, but with the new TV show (that I’m still hesitant about) and just finishing this series, I am back on board the Shadowhunter fandom! I can’t wait to see where else this world expands.
Hot Chocolate with cream and marshmallows — What book would you turn to for a comfort read?

The Selection (The Selection, #1)

I recently did a whole Top Ten Tuesday post about these and this was pulled from that list! This book is so light hearted and fun, definitely something good for escaping the real world for a little bit.
Box of chocolates — What series have you read that you feel has a wide variety and a little something for everyone?

Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1)

The Hex Hall trilogy is packed with supernatural, mystery, action, romance, and humor! It’s a great series that I absolutely adore.

How would you answer these questions? Happy Valentine’s Day! Wishing you all a great time, filled with loved ones and chocolate!

Emoji Book Tag (2)

Today, I’ll be doing the emoji book tag! I was tagged by Stefani @ Caught Read Handed and this tag was created by Sanaa @ Ink Bones Books. The idea here is to pick 5 of your most used emojis and match up books to them. I already did this tag once, about this time last year, but I figured I would do it again because my emoji usage has changed somewhat!

  Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1)

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins – This book is so funny! Sophie has a great outlook on life and her experiences with the new paranormal world she found herself in. I love her humor and sarcasm.

Prisoner of Night and Fog (Prisoner of Night and Fog, #1)

Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman – When I think about this emoji, I think about a book so intense that I couldn’t put it down! Both of the books in this duology are really intense with such high stakes. It’s so much fun and you won’t be able to put it down.

Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1)

Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins – This emoji to me is sarcastic and a little flirty. This PERFECTLY describes Kaidan who is a great book boyfriend and essentially this emoji in character form.

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins – This one was hard for me, but I ended up choosing this book because it is so good, plus this emoji could represent St. Clair!

     The Distance Between Us

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West – This emoji is like a totally shipable couple! I really liked this romance.

I’m not sure who has and who hasn’t done this tag, so if you want to do it, go ahead!

Unpopular Opinions Tag

Today, I’ll be doing the unpopular opinions tag! I wasn’t tagged by anyone, but this looked like so much fun. Anyway, I don’t mean to offend anyone with these in case you do like these books. I know many people who did enjoy these and I want to respect everyone’s opinions and these wonderful authors (most of whom I’ve read other books from and enjoyed) and these books, because most people do like these! Let’s get started with the questions:

A Popular Book or Series You Don’t Like

The 5th Wave (The Fifth Wave, #1)

The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey – I wasn’t a huge fan of the world building and through most of it, I was pretty confused. I didn’t continue on with the series because at the end of the book, I didn’t really care at all.

A Book or Series that everyone seems to hate but you love

Atlantia by Ally Condie – Most people didn’t like this (I’m not sure why, maybe because it’s slow?). I enjoyed the pacing and the overall tone and I’m glad I tried it amongst the bad reviews.

A love triangle that didn’t end the way you wanted it to

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)

City of Bones and the whole Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. No spoilers here, but if you know how it ends, I was on the other side. Of course, I did like how it ended up anyway in the second part of the series 😉

A book genre you hardly reach for

Fifty First Times: A New Adult Anthology

New Adult in general (this is just a random cover) – I’m not a huge fan of these because I don’t like books heavily focused on romance and I really want something else to them. I have a few lighter ones on my TBR, but nothing too crazy.

A popular or beloved character you do not like

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)

Peeta from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – When I was reading the books for the first time, I didn’t notice this, but on rereads I have. Peeta really annoys me because he didn’t really do anything to survive. Later in the series, he strengthens up, but I was never a huge fan of his skills. I think I wanted more from him.

A popular author you can’t seem to enjoy

Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1)

Laini Taylor – While I only DNFed this first book of hers, I haven’t been able to get into her writing. I also read her short story from My True Love Gave to Me, which I enjoyed, but not as much as most people. I’m not sure what it is, but I’ll keep giving her a chance.

A popular trope you’re tired of seeing

Divergent (Divergent, #1)

“One girl must save them all” – I get this is probably most books in the dystopian genre, but when one sixteen year old girl has to save her society alone, while exposing corruption and having two guys be in love with her? A little bit too much for my taste.

A popular series you have no interest in reading

The Wicked Will Rise (Dorothy Must Die, #2)

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige – Technically, I did read the first book in the series. It was only okay and I’m not excited to continue on with everything. Plus, there has been some drama with this author.

A movie or TV show that was better than the book

The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars – I felt for the characters so much more and I was actually more emotional during the movie than the book! It wasn’t a huge difference, but it had an impact. (I also felt this way about Divergent but I didn’t want to use it twice…)

Those are some of my unpopular opinions! I’m going to tag: Stefani at Caught Read Handed, Jolien at The Fictional Reader, and Missie at Flurry of Ponderings.

Taylor Swift Book Tag

I love Taylor Swift, so I could not resist doing this tag! I wasn’t tagged by anyone in particular, but I am going to do this just for fun. I love some of these questions!

We Are Never Getting Back Together

a series you loved, but then wanted to break up with

Divergent (Divergent, #1)

When I first started with this series, I was for sure that it would be a new favorite of mine. Sadly, with each book, I enjoyed them less and less. I’m still up for giving the movies a try though.

a book with a red cover

Cruel Beauty

This is such a beautiful cover! I have yet to pick this up yet, but it’s eagerly waiting for me on my shelf.

The Best Day

a book that makes you nostalgic

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)

I have read this entire series since it started and it just brings me back! My whole grade was obsessed with them and it was always a big deal when someone finished them first. I’ve loved going through life with Percy Jackson!

Love Story

a book with forbidden love

Obsidian (Lux, #1)

The classic tale of girl meets -alien.- This one has a great paranormal romance aspect, and forbidden love is always a part of that.

I Knew You Were Trouble

pick a bad character you just couldn’t help but fall in love with

Ignite Me (Shatter Me, #3)

A pretty popular pick – Warner from the Shatter Me series! I really did not like him in the first book but his character development was so on point.

a book someone spoiled

The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus, #4)

I know! This one has some huge plot points that I was spoiled on. 😦

Everything Has Changed

pick a character from a book who goes through extensive character development

Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1)

For this, I picked Anna from Sweet Evil! Throughout the trilogy, she really grows both with her powers and as a person in general. I really enjoyed seeing her growth all the way though.

You Belong With Me

your most anticipated release

The Next Together

The cover reveal for this made me even more excited! The American release of this book was dropped in the Egmont closing, but it is still publishing in the UK this fall. I have to get my hands on this book though…

Forever and Always

favorite book couple

Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1)

I haven’t talked about this AMAZING series in a while – Amy and Elder are super cute! I love seeing their relationship develop, although it really isn’t in your face through the whole series. I really liked the little, sweet aspects.

Come Back, Be Here

a book you’d never lend out because you’d miss it too much

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)

This book has sat on the same place on my bookshelf for years now. It would just look weird with that cornerstone spot gone, plus I never know when it’ll be calling for a reread!

Teardrops on My Guitar

a book that made you cry

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Me, on a bus, heading to DC on a ten hour ride. Not a pretty sight. However, I loved crying over this book. It was totally worth it.

Shake It Off

a book you love so much, you just shake off the haters

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (The Wicked Years #1)

For this series, I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews especially because of the writing style. I personally really enjoyed the aspect it gave the story though!

What’s your favorite Taylor Swift song?
