High school seniors Aria, Emily, Spencer, and Hanna barely survived their most recent encounter with A. And it’s not over yet…. The police don’t believe there’s another, deadlier, A out there, but the girls know what-and who-they saw. If they don’t track down this final tormentor soon, A will silence them forever.

Sara Shepard’s fan base continues to grow as ABC Family’s hit Pretty Little Liars TV show draws in new readers to the #1 New York Times bestselling series. Full of unexpected twists and shocking revelations, the second-to-last novel ramps up the stakes for the jaw-dropping series conclusion in Pretty Little Liars #16.

029c6-coollogo_com-9181998By the fifteenth book in the series, there tends to be a general lack of original ideas. And that, like many other series dragged out far beyond their life span, was exactly what this book suffered from – badly. Most of it just seemed like a buildup to the big finale, closing down this series at sixteen books next month. I am very excited to see how this all finally wraps up, especially seeing some of the strings tying off in this book. Now, for a review for each of the girls:

Aria: I have always liked Aria. In this book, her art is finally being sold after a famous buyer finds her artwork. After that, she lives the high life of an artist – gallerys, interviews, and reviews all coming in. She also starts a new relationship with Harrison, an art reviewer. They seem to be really cute together, but I still like her with Noel better. Other than that, Aria just seemed like Aria – avoiding any kind of craziness.

Spencer: Spencer normally takes the lead on A stuff, but in this book, she was just kind of boring. She starts a bullying advice blog and meets a guy named Greg. That’s about it.

Hanna: Hanna gets an acting role in a movie based on the Pretty Little Liars series (I liked the cameo of the actresses of the actual TV show!) and meets a young actress named Hailey. Hailey is a diva who causes some trouble between Hanna and her boyfriend, Mike. This was interesting.

Emily: ran this entire book. Literally. Emily receives a message from Jordan (remember her? I pretty much didn’t). Then, she goes to prison to visit and some trouble happens there. Needless to say, Emily goes crazy again, thus leading into the next book. Emily is such a frustrating character. She makes really irrational decisions.

The main problem with this book was that almost nothing happened. Outside of their social lives and relationship problems, there was little plot. They had some interesting hobbies and Emily pushed them into doing some insane stuff on a mad search to find Alison, but that’s it. It was just a filler book to get you into the last one. I am a little bit worried about how the series and the cliffhanger are going to wrap up in the next one, but I’m sure something will happen.
